Diana Pawell
Hello there!
I’m Diana, a UX/UI designer and former TV writer with a passion for colorful, heartwarming creations. It’s my firm belief that every design has a story to tell - and luckily, I’m an expert storyteller.
I love creating research-motivated designs that evoke cheerfulness and a sense of familiarity.

As a neurodivergent person, accessibility and usability are huge priorities in my design approach.

I love animals, and like to draw, game, or go for walks in my free time.

Here's the TLDR on my bio below:
-
Artsy kid obsessed with drawing and storytelling since birth
-
10 years of experience as an executive assistant & TV Writer
-
Completed UC Berkeley's UX/UI bootcamp with flying colors
-
Looking for hybrid/remote opportunities that align with my values
My Past
I was an artsy, empathetic child with a wild imagination who wrote and illustrated my own "novels" about crime-fighting mermaids. As I aged, I pursued oil painting, theater, improv comedy, journalism, and film and television production, eventually graduating from NYU with a major in Film and a minor in Media & Communications.

For the past decade, I've worked as an executive assistant and writer in Hollywood. Over time, I realized I was spending a lot of time on coffee runs and calendar-ing and not much on storytelling, and knew I needed to pivot to a career that honored the creative voice within me.
My Present
After plenty of research, I enrolled and graduated from UC Berkeley's UX/UI design bootcamp, where I spent six months grinding out interviews, case studies, and designs at a breakneck pace. I discovered I loved interviewing people in depth and crafting thoughtful questions. I also realized that as a designer, I tend towards happy colors, funky fonts, and "more" rather than "less" in terms of design.

Working across a team on several projects, I used my years of writing and pitching experience to produce fantastic presentations and speak engagingly about the project. I often fell into leadership roles on group projects naturally, and enjoyed setting the tone and pace of an endeavor.
My Future
I'm on the hunt for freelance and full-time hybrid/remote opportunities in the UX/UI design space. I've got a lot of fantastic writing and logistical experience to share, and am excited to continue my edification in the UX/UI design space.

This career pivot was not only to give myself storytelling opportunities, but also to honor my core values. I'm a passionate advocate for animals, the environment, and at-risk youth, and am looking forward to working with people who care about similar issues. In the next few years I'd love to have kids of my own, volunteer a ton, create fantastic and thoughtful designs, and craft a creative home for myself within this big, crazy world.
